Beth and Jeff DiTanna and their two teen boys Evan, 16, and Ryan, 18, chose Roxborough State Park for their family photo shoot. This location was a great spot for this adventurous family.

This photo shoot at Roxborough State Park may have been a bit of a drive for me from Denver, 35 miles, but for families like the DiTanna's, who already live down south, the drive is well worth it!

The park is similar to the large orange rock formations you see at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. There are many photo opportunities within a few minutes walk of the parking lot. You can also walk a little ways up the road towards the loop and get some nice photos in shade.

This road leading to the loop trail makes for a nice walking photo.

The park has a small entry fee of $10 per car. You also need a photo permit to shoot at this location. Your photographer will obtain this ahead of time.

Beth and Jeff met in the mid-90s in Sun Valley, Idaho. They’ve lived in South America, Wyoming, Tennesse and Hawaii. They moved here from Maui and have been in Denver since 2008.

We did this shoot here in early fall, but this is a great location all year round. Spring, summer, winter and fall the background remains the same, for the most part. I do recommend a morning shoot as the sunset is blocked because of the location.
