Billie and Carl’s love story began 13 years ago when they were introduced through mutual friends. They quickly grew close, fell in love and became best friends but were firm in their decision to get an education and focus on their careers. The couple supported one another through many late night study sessions and busy schedules of juggling work, school and family, but knew that one day they would marry. That time was just not then.
The formidable pair were indeed successful in obtaining their degrees and succeeding in their respective professions. They were also very focused on raising Billie’s son Wyatt who was 7 at the time they met.
The years went by quickly, as they often do, and before they knew it, Wyatt was graduating high school and beginning his adult life. Carl and Billie, who had never even taken a vacation together, started to talk about getting married and were considering a destination wedding on Maui to do so.
“At this time we decided it was time to marry and take our very first vacation. We both realized that our love and patience only grew stronger and deeper in those thirteen years. Uniting together and saying our vows was more meaningful than we would have ever imagined,” Billie said.
They chose Maui for its relaxed and beautiful location. They both enjoy the warm climate and the ocean, so Maui was a no brainer. “We came to Maui for a week of relaxation and spending time together without the hustle and bustle of city life since that’s what we deal with on a daily basis living in the Bay Area. We wanted a wedding that would be stress free, relaxing, and memorable. The one thing that was important was capturing this memory with amazing pictures of our experience,” Billie said.
Knowing how important this day was to them, I wanted to show how much they really enjoyed each other’s company and the joy they felt when being together. It was not hard to do! These two were constantly laughing and engaging with one another and not only made my job easy, but also made for a really fun photo session documenting my favorite thing, the love between two people.
Billie and Carl married privately in the Lahaina courthouse with just the two of them. They chose to do the photo session afterwards with me on Po’olenalena Beach in Wailea. At the end, I asked them if they would like to do some trash-the-dress photos. They happily obliged, and we got some really fun photos to top off their beautiful wedding day!
This shoot was definitely one of my most memorable as this couple truly exemplified a couple in love and is the reason I love my job so much!!
Thank you Billie and Carl for choosing me to be your Maui wedding photographer! Congratulations on your union, and I wish you many more years of happiness together.
Billie decided to have me create a wedding album for her and Carl to forever enjoy their photos. However, there are many other ways to share photos with your friends and loved ones, and this blog post is a great resource for brides looking to do so, http://shootdotedit.com/2018/09/best-way-to-share-wedding-photos/.
